May 11- final Stevi B's Night...I will be there from 5-6:30! Come out for dinner and fun!
May 14 - Field Day! If you want to be a volunteer, contact Mr. Dougherty or myself and we'll make sure you get a job!
May 19 - Beach Day - get ready for a day at the beach! Bring some of your favorite books and a beach towel from home----sun hat and flip flops optional!
May 20 - Game Day - bring one board/card game to school
May 21 - students bring all supplies home
May 22 - LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! Do not bring backpacks to school!
****Ice cream social - please start bringing in any sundae toppings you would like on your ice cream!

Welcome back! Only 5 weeks to go!!
CRCT is this week! This Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 8:10 is second grade testing. Don't be late! Being late will cause your child to wait in the media center until we are done testing.
** Get plenty of sleep....eat a nutritious breakfast....bring a healthy snack....and RELAX....you know this stuff!
Friday is Spririt day and Chick-fil-A biscuits for $2!
Reminders:
*send in one white, clean sock and buttons for a science project by Tuesday
*return registration forms ASAP
*Does anyone have access to tadpoles? I have a terrarium if anyone would like to hunt for, and deliver them to us!! :)

Announcements:
*This Friday is Spirit Day/Chick-fil-A biscuits $2. Parents: We are trying to raise money for St. Jude, so if you would like to "drive thru" and pick up biscuits for you and your office, please feel free.
*Next Friday, April 3, is Art Enrichment Day! This is always a wonderful day put on by our own Jean Turner! We LOVE this day!
*Spring Break holidays - April 6-10. Have a wonderful and safe break!
Curriculum Notes:
Many of you are doing a great job downloading and printing off your own timed tests, so thank you!! I will continue to send home copies for those without a printer. Continue the nightly response to literature in the writing journal.

Wow! Boosterthon was a huge success!! Our goal was to raise $20,000 and we exceeded our goal by $1,400! We can look forward to new technology AND Mrs. McWhorter and Mrs. Luscre in their blue mohawks and Superwomen outfits! SWEET CHICKEN!!
The Scholastic Bookfair continues all this week, so come in and load up on great deals!
Don't forget to Spring Forward this Saturday and set clocks one hour ahead!

Curriculum notes:
Math: finishing up unit 3 and getting ready so start the final unit which contains 3 digit regrouping, counting back change, graphing, and multiplication. Math Fact Cafe good for practice
Social Studies: we are beginning a unit on local, state and national governments. I have included this link to the student online text. We will be reading Unit 4.
