The May Agenda
Even though testing is over, students are still working hard. They just completed reports about the planets and even illustrated them with watercolors.
Now working with a partner, they are reading a biography about a specific American hero, and writing a report as well as creating a portrait of their famous person.
In Language Arts the students are studying poetry....they are both reading and writing poems.
In Math students are learning how to collect and record data...tables, graphs, etc.
So as you can see, it's not over until it's over...where has this year gone?

Journey North
For the past six weeks we have been going to the computer lab to do a program called Journey North.
CRCT
The CRCT is over, and everyone did a great job of doing their best. Everyone arrived at school on time and no one was absent.
Now all we have to do is wait for the results!

Wanted
Just a reminder that all "Bully Posters" are due by Friday, March 14th. All students are required to participate as this is a school wide project. This is a new program that has been started at Nicholson, and the guide lines were sent home last week, along with the definition. I look forward to having your child share his or her poster with me.

Penny Wars
Today, not a long time ago…In a Nicholson Star Galaxy, not far away…
PENNY WARS
It is a new age for Nicholson Stars…
Nicholson Stars have joined forces with the RallyKids Foundation to raise money and awareness for CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH.

THE RULES
Your class wins a PENNY WARS battle scoring the most penny points in a day.
Each penny in your class jug counts as one point. Any other type of money – coin or bill counts subtracts points – by each value.
Examples – a nickel subtracts 5 points
a dime subtracts 10 points
a dollar subtracts 100 points
a 50 dollar bill subtracts 5,000 points!
All class jugs will be in the cafeteria. You may drop your coins and bills before school.

Results will be announced the following day and the winning class will be rewarded.

PENNY WARS lasts 5 days –
February 25 – 29
Every student will receive an offical Penny Wars Bag with the rules and their first penny to play on Friday, Feb. 22nd. Look for it coming home.

Heart Day
Students will be bringing home a class list, and they will be designing a white bag in class in which to put their cards. Valentine cards may be brought to class ready to deliver on February 14th. Happy Valentine's Day to you all!
