Letter from Dr. Good (founder of the Homeless Pets Foundation)

Hello and Happy Holidays, 

Thank you for all you have done to help Homeless Pet Clubs and the Homeless Pet Foundation save more than 235 animals in the last three months! As a veterinarian, my life is dedicated to saving animals; I want to save them all, every one. I believe you do, too! 

The fact that more than 100,000 Atlanta-area animals are euthanized each year, simply because they do not have homes, is heartbreaking. It is especially sad to see so many people who have lost their homes come into shelters and clinics to surrender their beloved pets. The owners are devastated; the animals are confused. After a few days, the pets are so lonely and afraid. Your help, through your Homeless Pet Club, is a blessing to animals and families alike. 

This holiday season, homeless pets and “pet-less homes” need all the love and support possible. Adopting, or even fostering, a pet brings much love and joy into a home. Take a look at our www.homelesspetclubs.org website and let your friends and family know about a dog or cat you believe would be a great fit for their family. Please help these homeless pets, and pet-less homes, find the joy of the season together!

Update

We had a blast at Friday's meeting.  We learned why all-natural dog treats are the best choice for dogs.  The owner of Bark & Beg spoke with the group, and then offered each student the chance to dip the treats into carob.  We packaged the treats, and sold them as a fundraiser for our club.

Our first sponsored pet, Georgia, was adopted on Sunday!  WONDERFUL NEWS!  A few club members were at the adoption site with me (Mrs. Anderson), and we saw the whole process unfold.  We are extremely happy for her now that she has a forever home!

Pug: An adoptable dog in Atlanta, GA

A Good Samaritan brought us a lost purebred pug. We were happy to discover the little dog was micro chipped. We called Georgia's owner expecting to hear a relieved voice on the other end of the line. Instead the man told us that if we made him come get her he'd just throw her out again. Ew. Not the happy reunion we'd hoped for. So Georgia's new "home" is Homeless Pets Foundation. At 7 years of age, nothing's going to shock this laid back sweetie and she's taking all that life has thrown at her in stride. She holds no grudges and is ready to make a fresh start with a new family, one that will appreciate her for what she is, a loving and lovely companion and friend. Georgia is great with kids and loves meeting new people. She's friendly with other dogs too. Snuggled in her blankets next to you is her favorite way to spend an evening. Small dogs have relatively long life-spans so Georgia is just middle-aged. She's got lots more living and loving to do and she wants you to be a part of that. The collected dues have totalled $250, which has been sent directly to Homeless Pets Foundation.

Fall Carnival

We had a wonderful time at the Fall Carnival with our little friends.  The dogs were barely in their cages, as we had so many students wanting to walk them around!  They had a blast, and loved all of the attention.  Each of the dogs have since been adopted, so that makes US very happy!

About our Club

What an amazing start to our newest after-school club, Paws and Claws!  We have 62 members from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.

We meet on the first Friday of every month, from 2:30-3:30.  Our $5 club dues goes directly to the Homeless Pets Foundation.

Our mission is to find homes for animals in the Homeless Pets Foundation shelter and to educate club members about animal issues.  Our club will be sponsoring a pet that is currently up for adoption at the Homeless Pets Foundation shelter until it is adopted.  The children will be given fliers on our sponsored pet.  We hope to have a new sponsor pet each month.  The more pets that are adopted, the more pets we can save!
