Mrs. Purselle's Kinder Stars- Week of January 23-27

Jan. 24- Chick-fil-A Night

Jan. 27- 100^th day Celebration, Spirit Day, Chick-fil-A biscuits

Reader's Workshop- This week we will be focusing on different stories about the 100^th day of school.. We will be working on retelling the story and working on answering questions about the story.

Writers Workshop- This week we will continue to work on gathering and collecting information from nonfiction texts. Please practice writing about what you know.

Math Workshop- This week we will continue working on numbers 10-20.

Phonics- Our sight words this week are eight, away. We will also focus on the letter Kk and its sound.

Science, Social Studies, Health- This week we will begin to look at "Where we live". We will focus on continent, country, state, city, county, and address. Please begin to practice these at home.

We will have Art on Friday, January 27^th.

Reader's Workshop- This week we will be focusing on the story The Mitten. We will be working on retelling the story and working on answering questions about the story.

Writers Workshop- This week we will continue to work on gathering and collecting information from nonfiction texts. Please practice writing about what you know.

Math Workshop- This week we will continue working on numbers 10-20.

Phonics- Our sight words this week are seven, come. We will also focus on the letter Ll and its sound.

Science, Social Studies, Health- This week we will finish our unit on Martin Luther King Jr.

 

 

We will not have specials on Friday because we will be on our field trip.

Candy Cane grams will be sold in the front of the school near the media center on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week. The sweet holiday messages will be delivered on Thursday, Dec. 22, so get your orders in to make sure you don't miss out on taking part! Look for pre-order forms coming home this week.

Reader's Workshop- This week we will be listening to different Gingerbread stories and comparing and contrasting the different versions. We will also focus on finding words they know within the text.

Writers Workshop- This week we will continue to work on writing about one clear event. We will practice choosing our own topic to write about.

Math Workshop- This week we will be finishing our unit on three dimensional shapes (cone, sphere, cube, cylinder, rectangular prism)

Phonics- Our sight words this week are up, down, five We will also focus on the letter r and its sound.

Science, Social Studies, Health- This week we will have our Economic Unit.

 

We will have PE on Friday, Dec. 16^th.

Phonics- Our sight words this week are said, did, four. We will also focus on two vowels together and its rule (when two vowels go walking the first on does the talking)

Science, Social Studies, Health- This week we will begin discussing the different items we need vs. the items that we want.

Nov. 18- Kindergarten play 8:15 am, Academic alert sent home, Spirit Day

                        

Reader's Workshop- This week we will begin focusing on making predictions. We will also be working with the story The First Thanksgiving in preparation for our kindergarten play.

Writers Workshop- This week we will continue to work on writing about one clear event. We will practice writing about our family and our friends.

Math Workshop- This week we will be working with extending the pattern.

Phonics- Our sight words this week are has, one. We will also focus on the letter G and its sound.

Science, Social Studies, Health- This week we will discuss Veterans Day and why we celebrate it.

Reader's Workshop- This week we will continue to focus on good readers look at the pictures to help figure out words in the story. We will also be working with Where the Wild Things Are and Stellaluna.

Writers Workshop- This week we will begin our new focus. We will begin working on writing about one clear event. This is to help us understand to stick with one topic when we are writing.

Math Workshop- This week we will continue working on number sense.

Phonics- Our sight words this week are can, on, pink. We will also focus on the letter C and its sound.

Science, Social Studies, Health- This week we will be assessing Christopher Columbus. I will be looking for the children to be able to tell WHY we celebrate and WHO he is.
