Come visit Mulberry Street and hang out with Thing One and Thing Two! The first grade TARGET class has completed their Seussville project and it is currently on display in the Nicholson Media Center. Its whimsical buildings and fanciful characters would certainly made Dr. Seuss proud! This culminating activity incorporates the knowledge we gained from the author study as well as community planning strategies. The students are quite proud of their accomplishment as am I! Stop by if you are in the building and catch a glimpse of the funnest place on Earth to live...if only we could!

Wow! Bravo! Fantastic! Awesome! the fourth grade TARGET students did a wonderful job presenting their medieval projects in class today! We viewed a time line of apprenticeships, watched a tour of England with Movie Maker, critiqued the clothing of some models from the middle ages, transported back in time to visit two different battles through dioramas, heard a speech from Joan of Arc herself.... and even played a game from medieval times! WHEW...it was quite an adventurous day at Nicholson! The students need to feel very proud of all that they have accomplished during this unit!
Next week we will have a special 'break away' board game day. You child is permitted to bring one board game (with all the pieces please!) to play in class. Also, they are permitted to bring in a snack to share with the class and a 'special' single serving drink for them self! There are no BLOG questions for the remainder of the year!

Today in class we had a terrific discussion about inventions and innovations. We talked about coming up with great ideas and how to protect original inventions from being copied by others.

The students did a fabulous job today in TARGET! While in the computer lab we created various "future" inventions that come from each of the new cultures. Next week .....the students will assemble all of their research on a poster to create a presentation for the class about their specific culture! THE POSTER WILL BE COMPLETED IN CLASS AND THE POSTER BOARD IS PROVIDED FOR THE STUDENTS! I have checked their research folders and am thrilled to report that each student has kept up with the assignments so there is no homework this week! YIPPY!
There will be information sent home about the final week in TARGET so check the binder next week! Thanks so much...only 12 days left of school!

What a fantastic day we had for rafting and exploring! Many thanks to the parent chaperones for their invaluable assistance throughout the day! We were lucky enough to examine several types of snakes, a few salamanders, aquatic worms, a soft shell turtle and a great variety of birds. Who would have thought it would be so much fun to paddle 10 miles in a rubber raft. Check out the pictures for a snapshot of the day's activities coming soon!

As we prepare for our rafting trip it is important to remember all of the things we've done the past few months to prepare ourselves for a successful day!
