2nd Grade Musical & Chorus Concert

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

Have you ever noticed that fairytale and story book characters always have it rough? Come and see what happens when Mother Goose gives them some advice about seeing the brighter side of life.

Ms. Kneuer and 2nd grade are pleased to present “Make Lemonade!” Special guests, the Star Bright Singers, will also be there to croon their way through the best of American Pop Music from the 1930’s-1970’s.  It is definitely a show that will wash away those sour feelings and warm your hearts!

Popcorn and Lemonade will be available for the low price of $1 to help support the Star Bright Singers. Do you have family and friends that can’t make it? Order your own DVD of the performance for $20.

KUDOS Star Bright Singers!!!

KUDOS to the fabulous Star Bright Singers! They put on such a spectacular Veteran’s Day Tribute here at Nicholson on November 11. Our families Veterans were very grateful to be honored!

I am VERY proud of their behavior and performance at the Sunrise Assisted Living Center on November 12.  The residents were touched by their kindness and patriotic spirit! They gave them a standing ovation, and begged us to come again.  The kids said to me, "Ms. Kneuer, some of them were crying!" I told them that was because they were so happy to have us there. Thank you Star Bright Singers for sharing your gift of music with others.

Updates

Just a few details on upcoming events in chorus... First, remember that our first performance is on November 11th, and all chorus members must wear their uniform for this concert. The uniform consists of: a white button down shirt, navy bottoms, and dark dress shoes (no sneakers). For the girls, any navy skirt/skort/scooter is fine. If it is a skirt, please keep in mind we sometimes sit on the risers (navy stockings or shorts underneath please!). A generous parent of a chorus member from last year donated her daughter's uniform for a member this year. I have two skirts, both size 8 regular from gap kids, and a white blouse size M-7/8. If anyone is this size, just let me know and I will pass it on :)
Second, I am in the planning stages of a field trip on November 12th, from 9:15am-11:40am to Sunrise Assisted Living. We will be singing for the residents (the same songs we sang the previous day at school). As soon as I get the final affirmative on buses, I will be sending a permission form home. This means that the students will need to wear their uniform three times that week. Tuesday morning, Tuesday evening, and Wednesday morning. For this reason I have suggested to the students that they bring a change of clothes on both days to avoid dirt disasters.
And last, but not least, This month 4th grade will be putting on a performance on October 30th at 7pm in the cafeteria. At all performances, chorus always sells popcorn and soda as a fundraiser for our end of year banquet. I need a few 5th grader parent volunteers to help stand at the "concession stand" before and during the show. I also need a volunteer to get here at 4pm to start popping the corn. It takes a few hours to fill that thing up. If you are available to help in any way, please let me know!

Well, I think (and hope) that's all for now!

Thank you for your support and for making them practice, practice, practice! They sound great!!!

Storytellers Night

The kids have been practicing hard and are almost ready for their big debut. Juts a few fine details to go over. A lot of parents have emailed me asking about "concert black." Students can wear anything (tshirts, jeans, sneakers or suits, dresses, and dress shoes) as long as it is black (no logos, designs, or prints). This will enhance the use of brightly colored props and costume pieces.

This is surely going to be a spectacular show and to mark it in history, we will be having a professional videographer here to sell DVD's of the performance. Each DVD is $20, and will include several camera angles, close-ups, and great audio of the show (no babies crying!). Cash or checks will be accepted (made payable to K&S Productions).

Our fine Star Bright Singers will also be there selling popcorn and soda to fundraise money for their end of year banquet. Each item will be available for $1.
