Written homework will not be assigned this week.  Please have your child read aloud to you each night.  Use this time to practice math facts for the 100 Club.

Candy Cane grams will be sold in the front of the school near the media center on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week. The sweet holiday messages will be delivered on Thursday, Dec. 22, so get your orders in to make sure you don’t miss out on taking part!  Look for pre-order forms coming home this week.

    Reminders:                                            

We are going to the Fire Safety House this Thursday, December 8.  Please make sure your child wears sneakers and girls MUST wear pants and no high pony tails to participate in the various activities.  Bring a jacket because we will be outside.  Your child can purchase a lunch from school or send a sack lunch.  All lunch items must be disposable.  Do not send lunch boxes or anything that cannot be thrown away.  

As the holidays get closer, the kids get very excited.  Please remind them that appropriate behavior is expected.

Make sure your child brings a jacket to school and write their name in it.

Monday: Read a book and take an AR test by THURSDAY, practice counting money to $1.00.

Tuesday: Pick 5 spelling words.  Write a sentence with each. 

Wednesday: Practice Math Facts

Thursday: Study spelling words.

December 2: Performing Arts field trip: We will be out of the building from 10:45 until about 1:45. We will eat lunch before we leave.

December 8: All day trip to the Cobb County Safety Village

Curriculum:

* Reading: Recognize story elements, plot, setting, characters, problem, solution

* Writing: writing a book summary

*Math: Counting money , dollars and bills, making change up to $1.00

Reading - making inferences: adding what we already know to what we learn in a story to understand what we are reading.

Math - problem solving and mental math with 2 digit addition and subtraction

Writing - Writing a response to what we read, writing in complete sentences.  Each sentence has two parts, a noun (subject) and a verb (predicate)

Social Studies - Georgia's beginnings ).: James Oglethorpe and Chief Tomochichi

Homework

Thanksgiving Food Drive: Second grade classes are contributing canned fruits and vegetables. We will collect food items all this week.

Family Project (paper doll) for International Night is due Monday, Nov. 7.

Read and take and AR test by THURSDAY!

Mon.: Read a book aloud, write down title. Math.

Tues.: No school

Wed.: Spelling-Put 10 words in ABC order, practice subtraction facts

Thurs.: Choose 5 spelling words, write a sentence with each word.

Curriculum:

* Reading: practice fluency, using a dictionary

* Writing: Response to reading, write a letter to an author

*Math: subtraction with and without regrouping, using addition to check subtraction

Remember to send a jacket with your student each day.
