A Word from Mrs. Davenport and Mrs. DeCormier:

March was another busy month in our classroom.  We had Dr. Seuss’ Birthday, book fair and family night, a visit from the leprechaun (he was very bad and destroyed our classroom), and a field trip to Cagle’s Dairy! Whew!  We just never stop.

We want to thank Kyler’s mom, Chase’s mom, Leigha’s mom, Melanie’s mom, Ashton’s mom, and Emma’s dad for being awesome chaperone’s on our field trip!  What a perfect day we had and the Dragonflies had excellent behavior!

Noteworthy News:

April will begin with a long-awaited Spring Break!  When we come back we will begin our plant unit.  We will be planting seeds and learning about plants.  We will complete our study of the individual letters and sounds and then move to “partner” sounds to finish out the year.

In math, we will be moving from addition to subtraction and completing our problem solving.  We will spend time practicing counting strategies when combining and separating sets.  We will also practice using pictures and numbers to represent and explain story problems.

Happy Holidays

We have an exciting two weeks ahead of us! We have begun our

needs and wants unit. The students are really beginning to understand that they dont NEED that new toy that they really just want it! This week our students will be filling out job applications to apply for the shop that they want to work in next week. They will chose between the stationary shop, the home goods store and the bake shop. After going to "work"

for three days, they will get to go shopping and spend their earnings to buy the goods that they made. I am very excited. It should be a lot of fun and educational too! Thank you to those of you who have volunteered to be a manager in a store. Thank you also to those of you who have sent in the supplies to make this a successful event!

Our Gingerbread house party will be on December 19th at 12:00. We would love for families to come in and help create some masterpieces.

As a fundraiser for Relay for Life, we will be having a school wide Pajama Day next Friday, December 19th. If your child wants to wear his/her Pajamas, bring one dollar. I will be wearing mine!

I hope you all have a very Happy Holiday! See you next year if not before!
