Testing is over,but we're still learning!

      Yippee! CRCT Testing is over!

This is the curriculum we will be focusing on for the next 4 weeks:

Math - Data Collection (all types of graphs, tables,and surveys)

Language Arts-  Narrative Texts and Poetry

Health- Nutrition

Narrative Writing

     The type of writing we will be focusing on for the coming weeks will be narrative writing. We already wrote a story about a leprechaun that popped out of our lunch bag one day at lunch! They were very creative stories that we all enjoyed.

                

 

Bully Poster Contest

      All students should be working on creating a poster that reflects the definition of bullying that our school has adopted.These posters are due Friday,March14th.A sheet with the guidelines was sent home last week. Please ask your child about this project.

Reading Road Trip

                      This week the book fair will be set up in the media center for students to purchase books of their choice. Tuesday will be Family Night from 6-8 P.M. Reading Road Trip is Thursday night 6-8 P.M. Please read the fliers in your child's Monday Mail folder for more information.

It is a new age for Nicholson Stars…

Nicholson Stars have joined forces with the RallyKids Foundation to raise money and awareness for CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH.

THE RULES

Your class wins a PENNY WARS battle scoring the most penny points in a day.

Each penny in your class jug counts as one point. Any other type of money – coin or bill counts subtracts points – by each value.

Examples – a nickel subtracts 5 points

                 a dime subtracts 10 points

                 a dollar subtracts 100 points

                a 50 dollar bill subtracts 5,000 points!

All class jugs will be in the cafeteria. You may drop your coins and bills before school.

Results will be announced the following day and the winning class will be rewarded.

PENNY WARS lasts 5 days –

February 25 – 29

Every student will receive an offical Penny Wars Bag with the rules and their first penny to play on Friday, Feb. 22nd. Look for it coming home.

American Heroes

                    

Look for your child to begin reading some short biographies about famous Americans.Let them tell you what this person did to become known to so many.This informational reading goes along with our unit in social studies.

Valentines for classmates...

  Our class will be exchanging Valentines on Thursday, February 14th. A list with everyone's name was sent home on Friday.Happy Valentine's Day!
