What's Happening
Writers Workshop- The reports are looking great! They started their rough drafts. We discussed engaging beginnings and using notes to create paragraphs. This week we will focus on writer's craft and sense of closure. The final copies of these reports will be displayed in the hallway.
Readers Workshop- The focus is on main idea and details. We will switch from fiction to nonfiction texts. We will also review nonfiction text features.
Spelling- Sort 16 this week. The pattern is adding the suffix -ing. Test on Friday. Don't forget about spelling-city for practice.
English- Kinds of sentences is on the agenda. We are almost through with all four types. Imperative sentences are this week. There will be a quiz on Friday over all four types.
Math- We are still working on fractions using models to represent adding and subtracting. On Wednesday we will begin comparing fractions to decimals.
Science- We will study Georgia habitats. The first region will be the mountains. My favorite!

Welcome Back
Welcome back to school! I am so excited to be in third grade this year! We are going to have so much fun learning together. As you know third grade is a big year. We will focus on becoming great readers and of course learning all those math facts! I can't wait to see all those smiling faces on the first day! Be sure to check my blog for important updates.

Meet the teacher
Hello friends! My name is Mrs. Asip and it looks like I will be your Third grade teacher this year. Before I meet you, I would like to tell you a few things about me. I have been teaching elementary school for 8 years. I taught EIP and Fourth grade at Powers Ferry for four years and have been a Nicholson Star for four wonderful years. I taught fourth the first two years, then had the pleasure of looping up to fifth grade for two years. I am very excited to teach third grade this year. It will be a great learning experience for me.
Not only am I a teacher, but a wife and mother as well. I have two beautiful daughters, Alexis who will be in 7th grade at McKleskey, and Alivia who will be in 4th grade at Keheley. I also have two boys, but they both have four legs...my dogs Diego and Bogey. You will probably hear many stories about all of them! I love my family. I am so excited to meet all of you! See you on Aug. 15th.
